🎙️🎧 PODCAST: Dr. Elaine Ingham and the Soil Food Web

In this episode, I honor my friend and teacher, Dr. Elaine Ingham, who passed away last week. I share a little bit about how we first met, the impact she had on the permaculture world and the regenerative agriculture community, as well as introducing me to the fascinating world under our feet in the soil!

I also offer some teachings about the world of soil biology ~ so grab a notebook, or simply enjoy this as you go about your day. The dirt beneath our feet is truly alive with possibilities, and you’ll never walk on it in the same way again!

ABOUT DR. INGHAM:

Dr. Ingham dedicated her life to helping us understand the living world beneath our feet. Her work transformed how farmers, gardeners, scientists, and land stewards think about soil… not as dirt, but as a dynamic, living ecosystem. Through her research, teaching, and mentorship, she empowered thousands of people to regenerate land by working with biology rather than against it. Her work can be found on the Soil Food Web website, and here is her obituary.

I teach about the soil food web in our permaculture design courses and our Advanced Permaculture course, along with other teachers and permaculture designers at Earth Activist Training.
